Catch you soon!

Today I have filled in all the pages in the About section to the right, the What / Who / Where / When / Why / Sponsors pages, have a look through them and they will explain more about the challenge, and who I am.

I’ve also had a few people ask me how did you end up in Whangarei for two months? Well my day job is an Implementation Consultant, which means I install and configure software solutions in New Zealand and around the world. It just so happens that I’m working on a contract to install several products in Whangarei and I have been asked to do the on site work, so I’m just taking advantage of the situation. Hey it’ll keep me off the streets in the evenings and weekends!

The first sponsor is on board and getting behind 30Fish, K-Labs – www.klabs.co.nz – They have come forward with some of their Flurocarbon leader in a range of breaking strains on 50 yard wheel dispensers. Thanks guys!

Well I’m all moved in to Ngunguru, been on a few walk abouts to check out the local spots, there are some very fishiy looking spots to check out in the Ngunguru / Tutukaka / Matapori areas.

Yea I know, I’ll go fishing, so out of work at 5:00, drive to Ngunguru, load the kayak, put on some gear and drive around the corner to Whangaumu.

Not having looked at any charts or anything, hey this is the North it’s full of fish anywhere will do…

So I was out there for about two hours and here’s how it went down…

Ok, I’m only a few days away from starting this thing, I’m leaving Auckland on board Red Quarters and heading to Great Barrier island for the long weekend, so the first three days of the 30 day challenge will be spent fishing at Great Barrier!

Yay, looks like the 30Fish challenge is going to be picked up and covered by the good folk at Bayfisher magazine, will post more details once confirmed.

Yes I’m four days into the 30 days, will be trying to post daily but with being at the Barrier, and having to traverl from Auckland back to Whangarei posting time has been limited to say the least, I’m fishing tonight after work, don’t know where or how yet, it’s blowing a gale and pouring with rain in Whangarei right now…

When I get back home I’ll post up the first four days…

Also a big thanks to K-Labs the spools of Fluro were sitting on my desk waiting for me this morning, will post more details about them later too.

Right well here we go, the first day, and what a place to start it, I’m fishing at Great Barrier Island!

I came here with a group of fellow kayak fishers from KayakFishingNZ.com aboard the Lara Star, we are here for three days in total so expecting to catch a few fish…
